It's time to be off duty. Zhou Hailiang didn't have any plansto go off work. He was examining the lining machine in the workshop carefully. Are the screws tightened? Are the chains loose? Make sure that everything is normal, he turned to check another hole-punching machine. After the examination, he lifted the bucket of water and wiped the two machines twice.

This is the task Zhou Hailiang issued to himself every day, an operator from stationery no.1 workshop of no.3 branch. Originally, the task assigned to him by the leadership was to operate the machine. “But I think it's my job to check and maintain since the leader gave me the machine”, said Zhou Hailiang.

Uncommunicative, but talkative when seeing the machine

People familiar with Zhou Hailiang will describe him in terms of "silence, little talk, and introversion." Even his wife has the feeling that her husband is a poor talker. Indeed, Zhou Hailiang is a man of few words. But as long as he's dealing with the machine, He's changed like another person.

 Three years ago, just moved from the printing factory to no.3 branch, Zhou Hailiang was arranged in the spring group work of stationery no.1 workshop. Just a few days, the new sticky lining machine arrived. Because Zhou Hailiang has served as captain's deputy before, knowing about the machine operation, the factory arranged him to follow the instructor sent by the other side to learn how to operate.

Unexpectedly, the usual taciturn Zhou Hailiang suddenly became talkative, asking a lot to the master. What's this joystick for? What's the use of that button? Where does the material go in? What is the temperature range for the machine?  One question after another made the instructor impatient. But Zhou Hailiang still had no intention to stop.

Later, the master who directed him simply threw the machine's instructions to him. Let him read by himself, and asked again what he didn’t not understand. As a result, next day, Zhou Hailiang holding the manual, found the master and asked him a lot of questions. “The leader told me to operate the machine, and I must make sure of the structure and operation of the machine. Otherwise, this is not responsible not only for me but for the factory”, said Zhou Hailiang.

Like to think, small inventions help workshop save time and effort

Different from other machine operators, Zhou Hailiang will not idle even in the absence of the need to operate the machine. He likes to study the various structures inside the machine, and also likes to transform the machines. He has gutted the two machines. “Look, this is his invention, saving us a lot of time and energy.” Pointing to a plastic film in the glue bucket of the lining machine,group leader Li Suyun said happily. At first, the glue added each time it was easily glued to the surface of the glue bucket after cooling. Therefore, cleaning became a big problem.”It is removed to wash every time. It takes a lot of time and effort to clean it.”

Zhou Hailiang thought about this problem for a long time. One day, he saw his family sealed the watermelon with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge, which inspired him. Next day, he took the plastic wrap to the workshop and covered it with a glue bucket. Later, he made a new improvement to replace the plastic film with a stronger plastic film. This time, the machine cleaning time has been saved, and production efficiency has been greatly improved.

“Although the young man of few words, he likes studying very much. He helped with other machines in the workshop, and it was easier for us to operate”, said Zhou Hailiang’s fellow worker.

Strive for excellence and perfection

In the opinion of his colleagues, Zhou Hailiang has another feature. “He is a very hard worker. He will always be up to the mark when he does not meet his requirements.”Li Suyun was impressed by his character. If the product did not align the corners, he’ll take care of it. If he product has a slight deviation in accuracy and color, he'll reset the machine.

The breeds produced bygluing machine and punching machine are miscellaneous. But every time, Zhou Hailiang can always tune the machine to its best, making the product to the perfect standard. Therefore, sometimes it’s already off work, but he worked until 7 o’clock or 8 o’clock.

In other people's view, those "get through" products seem to be "unqualified" in Zhou Hailiang’s view. “If everyone is thinking that way, our Guangbo’s products can not be called quality goods.”

Now, Zhou Hailiang was named the "star of Guangbo" in the second quarter this year. He said, I will demand myself with more strict standards, improve my professional level and contribute more for Guangbo.
